Hannah Montana is a TV show that revolves around the life of Miley Stewart who's a normal teenage girl by day and then transforms into Hannah Montana the pop icon by night. Only her close friends, Lilly Truscott and Oliver Oken and her dad Robbie and her older brother Jackson know about her secret. Together, they struggle to deal with the chaos that reigns in a teenager's life that also seems amplified especially combined with the pressures of juggling two totally different lives.

The series is the brainchild of three co-creators. Both Michael Poryes and Richard Correll worked on "That's so Raven", another Original Disney Channel series. In fact, Michael is credited as the creator for that series. Barry O' Brien on the other hand has worked on CSI: Miami and Judging Amy as producer and writer for several episodes and that's what he brings to the table.

You can't really pull off a show without any cast members. To bring Hannah Montana to life, Miley Cyrus, who originally auditioned for the role of the best friend, Lilly, was cast. This was Miley's first big break and it's the role that launched her into stardom. To play the part of Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana, you need a teen that echoes so well with the character and Miley Cyrus was it. The producers even changed the original name of from Zoe and Chloe Stewart to Miley because of this.

The other characters in the TV series include female best friend, Lilly Truscott, played by Emily Osment. As the BFF (as kids call their best friends in their language) in the series, Emily also plays an alter ego called Lola Luftnagle when she needs to be out with Miley while in the Hannah Montana persona. Together, they journey through teenaged life, battling with the usual teen angst like pimples and bullies.

The other BFF, this time a male, is Oliver Oken played by Mitchel Musso. As the third member of the close knit group, Oliver shares in the friends' escapades with an alter ego of his own, Michael Standley III.

The father of Miley Stewart and acts as Hannah Montana's manager is none other than Robbie Stewart played by Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley Cyrus' dad in real life. He manages the Stewart household as a single parent.

The other member of the Stewart family is Miley's older brother Jackson. He's very laidback, casual and often gets into scrapes much to the exasperation of his dad and sister. Though he may sometimes feel being in the shadow of his much celebrated sister, he does have a soft spot for her and often helps out when she needs him.

Hannah Montana – the TV series is such a big hit that it has over 200 million audiences worldwide. This popularity has resulted in a spin off movie, concerts and sales of soundtrack CD's and even a clothing line.
